SUSTAINABLE DESIGN POLICIES & REGULATIONS
This module is led by tutors, Dr. Sujatavani Gunasagaran and Dr. Salvi. It was conducted in hybrid throughout the entire semester.
This subject provides a thorough awareness of environmental issues and the intricacies and affects that the built world has on the natural environment. The goal of the module is to foster environmental literacy and a comprehension of the laws governing sustainable design and activities.
Assignment 1: Research Article
We were asked to write a 6000–7000 word article report in our group of eight depending on the topic chosen by our professor. Our group's topic was "Smart Villages," and we drew inspiration from Sir Ebenezer Howard's Garden City idea to improve the transportation link between rural and urban areas.
REFLECTION
I became aware of the significance of transportation in creating a smart village since accessibility to cities is essential for villages to have access to better amenities and services. Additionally, I now know how the idea of Garden Cities could be incorporated into the transportation systems that link urban and rural areas.
Assignment 2 : SDG to Architecture
We are required to select a regional structure and a specific SDG for documentation. The building's methods for achieving the stated goal by 2030 and the way the strategies and associated systems responded to the local environment will be the subject of our research.
REFLECTION
As soon as I finished my final assignment, I understood that sustainability can exist anywhere and that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are merely a framework. However, human beings alone will determine whether or not to implement. People used to think that being sustainable was very expensive, however there are numerous positive real-world examples that are widely unknown. The most important step in educating people about the long-term advantages of a sustainable building is to introduce our fantastic green/sustainable building to our community.
